Workshops take place in Carrigaholt in June.

Two boats will be built and will stay in Carrigaholt and Kilbaha for local club members.
For many years Derry Heddreman a local currach builder built many currachs. There are a few still around after over 20 years.

October - Ballyvaughan -Parish Hall

November - 16th Doonbeg -Parish Hall

Janruary - Kilrush - Hector Street

Workshops will be run over 6 days and involve up to 8 people. We would encourage others to come along and see what is going on.

James Madigan will be the tutor. James has been building fishing canoes in West Clare for many years and learnt the skill from his grandfather, Sino Blunnie in Kilrush.

If you are interested in coming on a course you can contact info@westclarecurrachs.com or James on 087 6523728

This is a unique opportunity to learn how to build the Clare fishing canoe (currach). It is a hands on opportunity to learn the subtle skills of currach building. You won't find this in any book.

We would like to thank CLDC for their support.
